Why we only run private Everglades airboat tours

A lot of Miami airboat tours pack dozens of people onto one big boat and run the same loop all day. We went the other way. Every Everglades airboat tour we run is private to your group, with no strangers on board.

Most of our boats hold 6–7 guests, and that’s on purpose. A smaller boat keeps it a real airboat ride. You feel the wind coming off the sawgrass, you hear the engine wind down when your captain stops, and you’re close enough to ask anything you want.

Bringing a bigger crew? No problem. We have plenty of boats, so larger groups just ride on several at once. Kids 5 and under ride free, and our ear protection fits everyone from toddlers to grandparents.

Meet our captains: born-and-raised Gladesmen

Airboat Adventures Everglades is owned by Captain Greg Mislow. Greg leads our team of local captains and is one of the captains on it, so he’s out on the water with guests too.

In South Florida, a “Gladesman” is a local who spends a lifetime in the Everglades. Every captain on our team is one, born and raised here. Every captain also holds a U.S. Coast Guard captain’s license and is CPR and first-aid certified. You’re riding with people who know this water and take your safety as seriously as your fun.

Greg has watched the Everglades change: pythons wiping out small mammals, shifts in how the water flows, fewer deer than there used to be. That’s a big part of why we do this. We want to show people what’s still out here and tell its story from a local’s point of view. Greg calls it Real Florida, and it’s what we try to share on every trip.

What an Everglades airboat tour with us feels like

It starts with a quick safety briefing and your ear protection. Then the engine roars, and the boat skims across the open sawgrass prairie at speed.

When your captain cuts the engine, everything goes quiet. That’s when you start noticing things: an alligator resting near a waterway, wading birds lifting off, turtles along the edges. Guests often tell us they saw lots of gators, babies included. These are wild alligators, not farm animals, so we never promise a sighting. We just know where to look.

No two trips are the same. Weather, water levels and the season all shape the route, and your captain adjusts to what the day brings. Ask about the plants, the animals, how the water moves. That’s what the time is for.

Sunset, night and specialty airboat trips

A sunset airboat tour is golden light spreading across the River of Grass while birds head in to roost and the sky changes above the sawgrass. After dark, a night airboat tour in the Everglades feels like a different place. You listen to the wetlands come alive and look for wildlife with your captain.
