Everglades Sunset Airboat Tour

An Everglades sunset airboat tour gives your private group a chance to watch golden-hour light spread across the water and the sky change above the sawgrass. Look for birds heading to roost and alligators near the waterways as your captain explores the wetlands. Wildlife sightings, sunset colors and visibility vary with the weather and conditions; every outing is different.

Sunset times shift with the season, and you can start before, during or after sunset and carry on into the night. Tours are 1.5, 2 or 3 hours. Choose 1.5 hours for $450, 2 hours for $550 or 3 hours for $750 for the first two guests. Each extra guest is $60, and kids 5 and under ride free. Tell us your full group size and children’s ages when arranging the tour.

For family photos, keep your phone or camera secured and follow your captain’s instructions before taking pictures. Try a wide view to include the sky and sawgrass, then take a few closer family portraits when the boat is safely stopped. Avoid leaning over the side for a wildlife photo. Meet at 5334 FL-90, Miami, FL 33185, unless we confirm another location. Arrive 15 minutes early; free parking is available. Wear comfortable shoes (flip-flops are fine) and bring sunscreen, a secure hat, sunglasses, and bug spray.

Tell us your preferred date, duration, group size, and children’s ages. Sunset tour questions

What time does the sunset airboat tour start?

Whenever you like, because every tour is fully customizable. Sunset times shift with the season, so we'll tell you when the sun sets on your date, and you can start before, during or after it. Starting a little before sunset puts you on the water for the golden light. Tours run 1.5, 2 or 3 hours, and the longer ones continue into the night.

Should we book 1.5 hours or 3 hours for sunset?

1.5 hours covers the sunset itself: golden light over the sawgrass and birds heading to roost. Choose 2 or 3 hours if you want to stay out as the sky goes dark and the Everglades switches to its night sounds. The 3-hour tour runs into the night, so it's close to a sunset tour and a night tour in one outing.

Can we do a sunrise tour instead?

Yes. For sunrise, we recommend starting 30 minutes before sunrise, so you're on the water as the sky lights up over the sawgrass. Sunrise tours cost the same as sunset: $450 for 1.5 hours, $550 for 2 hours or $750 for 3 hours for the first two guests. Mornings are also a good time for wildlife, and the air is cooler.

Is a sunset tour good for family photos?

Yes, it's one of the best times for them. Take a wide shot that shows the sky and the sawgrass, then do close family portraits when the captain has the boat safely stopped. Keep phones on a strap, and don't lean over the side for a wildlife shot. Sky colors change nightly, so no two sunsets look alike.

What happens if it's cloudy at sunset?

The tour still goes. We run rain or shine, and a few clouds often catch the color and make the sky more interesting, although we can't promise it. If there's lightning or unsafe weather, we'll reschedule or refund you. Call (305) 766-1929 on the day if you're unsure about the forecast.
